Crow Red Rooster by Brian Beverly I got a little red rooster That crows all day He got tombstone eyes And little feet of clay And when he stumbles around He got nothing to say And I tell him I say Crow red rooster crow Crow red rooster crow Every time that he opens his mouth We get a glimpse into his soul And every time we see his soul We see that he has none He hates everything he sees And everything he imagines He's not like you and me He never can and never will be

I Just Landed by brian beverly People beware I've got too much at stake I'm seeing flowers on the rooftops And I could use a break The Holy Ghost Is just some stain on a plate Don't know who's my friend Or to who I can relate I just landed Right on time And I'm headed north this time But I just landed And it's such a grind Cause I'm going south in my mind Hot is cold And cold is wet I've got seven deadly sins Two of which I've never met There's so much now That I am just so pleased to regret Like waking up coin-less In the back of this launderette Un - lock the overhead Re - serve a car Cause I just landed.......

Jalene 02:19
Jalene by brian beverly Jalene Why you want my money so bad Jalene Why you want my money so bad You picked all my pockets Took every dime I had I just wanted some pancakes And a little salt It was you that made me hungry For sugar after all Jalene Why you want my money so bad Jalene Why you want my money so bad You picked all my pockets Took every dream I had So we go out in the car To take a little drive But you've always been so fast We're lucky to arrive You go down to the store Expecting to buy more But you don't have that credit line You don't live here anymore

Were Not Drinking Water Here by brian beverly MDA and THC That’s what God has got for me Sell my shit, to pay my rent You can’t judge me for the way I am I’m drinkin’ wine Come down of the ceiling, come down and be my friend Were not drinkin’ water here Lookin’ through cracked glasses Into a crystal ball One hand on neglect, the other on the fall Too much is the price I’ve got to pay You can’t ignore me then treat me this way I’m drinkin’ wine Come down off the ceiling, come down and be my friend Were not drinkin’ water here

Little White Lines by brian beverly There won’t be Any more shade There won’t be feathers in the bed you made Chasing the little white lines The little white lines won’t drive your blues away I can’t hang Hang around here When I’m here I wish I was there Chasing those little white lines Well the little white lines wont drive your blues away Momma say Go and be game Don’t be traped by the plans you’ve made Chasing the littyle white lines Well the little white lines won’t drive my blues away But the little white lines will leed me home someday

The River Below by brian beverly My father, he went sailing On a dark and desperate sea I stood on the shore, my sister with me My father he went sailing, though he never wanted to go To the river below On the river below On the river below On the river below Though he never wanted to go My mother, she went sailing On a ship that's heaven sent I stood on the shore, feeble and bent My mother she went sailing, though she never wanted to go To the river below One day I felt my hand upon the rope And my two sons waved to me, for they knew I loved that boat I felt the spray, out from the crystal cove And the winds will blow

You Can't Give It Away by brian beverly I know a man Who was weaker than toast And thought he had something to trade He waited till midnight down by the crossroads Where he had his hand to play But you can't take it And you can't give it away You can't take it And you can't give it away He started to stumble Stumble and fall And he reach out for a hand He said lord help me But God's not listening Deafened by this evil plan You can't take it And you can't give it away You can't take it And you can't give it away

I’d Rather Be Loved Then Right by brian beverly Who's voice is it In the middle of the night That's deep in your soul Helping you to get things right And how long must we fuss and fight We get it wrong Before we get it right How long How long must we How long must we fight I'd rather be loved then right Who's voice is it With secret advice Telling you to stand your ground Or to sacrifice And how long must we fuss and fight To live in darkness Or to seek the light We're busy Busy going nowhere And acting real smooth I'd rather be loved then right

My Book by brian beverly Let the truth be known I'm standing at your gate Let the truth be known I won't wait For the girl who knows not where to look And the heart that is easily took And that gives you one more reason Not to buy my book Let the truth be known I'm standing in your light Let the truth be known I won't cry Reflected in the mirror of your eyes Guarding all the restlessness inside And that gives you one more reason Not to buy my book And a cherry pie is just a cherry pie No matter what bite you take We'll never know the reason why Or meant the hearts we break In the story was still unfold If you don't buy my book

about

This is my first collection of music since "Eleven It Ends" on Tacoma/Chrysalis, 1981. I went through a long period of time where the thought of writing music seemed self-serving and unimportant. With "Poolside," I'm back, (after a long rest), but still not giving a shit.
Somethings never change.

I want to thank Jack Beverly. Watching him discover, the roots of rock and blues and listening to his playing around the house has allowed me to rediscover my passions, not to mention relying on his ear and eye for sound and reality.

Thanks for listening.
